TWO PLANETARIUMS FOR THE NATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THAILAND
In early 2014, two National Astronomical Research Institutes of Thailand (NARIT) planetariums were equipped with Fulldome.pro digital projection systems and our astronomical simulator - Event Horizon 360. This is the first step in a long-term collaboration between Fulldome.pro and NARIT, which aims upgrade and expand its planetarium network throughout the country.
The first planetarium is on the grounds of Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) in Nakhon Ratchasima. A new 10 meter (33 foot) diameter n-pressure dome with rigid frame was installed inside the existing facility. The 5.2K resolution system uses twelve Panasonic projectors, suspended from an aluminum truss around the perimeter of the dome.
The second dome was at the newly constructed Chachoengsao National Observatory and Planetarium near Bangkok. It houses a 10 meter (33 foot) n-pressure, tilted dome equipped with twelve projectors mounted on an aluminum rig. However, in this installation the projectors are located behind the dome, in the technical corridor. The facility was officially opened by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand.
